Posted July 16th, 2009 by Julie Pickett
On Thursday evening, July 23, at 6 pm, the library will hold a Teddy Bear Sleepover Story Time. Children are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal that will spend the night at the library. Special guest Owney the Mail-Pouch Pooch will be sleeping over as well! In real life, Owney was a stray dog who, in 1888, wandered into the U.S. Post Office in Albany, New York where he was found the next day sound asleep on a pile of mail bags. Owney became a permanent member of the Albany Post Office, where he became a guard dog criss-crossing the country on railroad trains that carried the mail.

Teen Movie Night
Posted June 30th, 2009 by Julie Pickett
Summer Teen Movie Nights will begin on Tuesday, July 7, at 5 pm with the showing of a movie about a high school senior who gets rejected by all the colleges he has applied to. In order to avoid the disappointment of his parents, he creates a phony college, puts it on the web, and "gets in". Only trouble is, other kids see the phony college on the web and they apply as well.
This hilarious movie from 2006 has high viewer ratings and stars Justin Long, Jonah Hill, and Adam Herschman and is produced by the studio that created American Pie. Rated PG-13.
