Orphans of Chaos review
Orphans of Chaos
By: John C. Wright
The Orphans of Chaos is an astounding piece of teen fiction. With fascinating characters and a compelling plot, the story follows young Amelia Earheart Windrose. Amelia is a young teenage orphan at a boarding school supposedly in England. At this particular boarding school there are only four other students, Vanity, Victor, Colin and Quentin. The story follows the five in their quest for self discovery and who their parents were or are.
These five orphans share an amazing bond that even siblings do not have. These orphans only have each other they are their own miniature family albeit a strange one. Victor being the assumed oldest is the father and looks out for everyone makes sure that they don’t do anything too stupid or out of line. Amelia the believed next oldest also watches out for her adoptive brothers and sister. Together they create a pact never to forget where they came from the stories and memories of whoever their parents were.
After many years of living in the school without question the five remember these stories of their lives and parents from before they came to the school. The five also find themselves at the center of a mythical war that includes the school’s entire staff. Not only are their teachers mythical beings with magical powers (or scientific powers depending upon the readers point of view) but so are Amelia and her friends. They are the children of the Uranians which were the parents of the Titans that were the parents of the Greek Gods.
This book has something for every teen fiction lover with scientific explanations for the powers of the Greek Gods and fantastical world and beings for fantasy lovers like my self. There is also romance and intrigue for all those hopeless romantics.
Overall I give this book five stars out of five and can’t wait to read the next two The Fugitives of Chaos and Titans of Chaos.
