March 8, 2019

 

Present: D. Witmer, C. Lusk, C. Maison Kastner, D. Johannsedn, D. Bryan, K. Kaufman, B. Fox, C. Weber (Director), R. Ziegel (Friends’)

Absent: None

Call to Order: 8:04 a.m.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes stand as read.

Friends’ Report: Good turnout, 45 people, for last “In Your Own Backyard” event.  Friends’ are receiving donations for the collection and other future needs of the library. The community has been very generous.  The Friends are planning to do the summer book sale, 7/9 to 7/28.  Book donations will start in April.  May 9th is the annual meeting with Rusty Dewees as speaker.

Treasurer’s Report and Endowment Fund Discussion:

There is $31,263 in the Operating Account and $23,311 in the Development Account.  The Financial Committee is working with Morgan Stanley to pinpoint our needs and understand their process.

Director’s Report:

The library work is in the final stages, drywall is being painted, shelving installation is scheduled for March 18th to March 25th, the carpeting installation is the week of April 1st, cleaning will take place after the above is completed.  The plan is open the library on April 22nd. Cindy has been purchasing what she feels is vital to replace the damaged books.  It will take her close to a year-in-a-half to get the adult section up to par.  There was an average of thirty to thirty-five people a day visiting the satellite library.  Julie’s last day before retirement is June 1st.  the board will do something to show our appreciation of Julie’s service to the library and the community.

Executive Session: The board went into executive session at 8:43 a.m.  Executive Session pronounced closed at 9:17
