Friends’ Report: The Friends’ Annual Meeting is May 9th with Rusty Dewees as guest speaker.

Treasurer’s Report: There is $30,863 in the Operating Account and $23,063 in the Development Account.

Director’s Report:  A fire was discovered on Saturday evening, April 30th outside a library window.  Home Security called Cindy right away.  The first fireman on the scene extinguished the fire.  The damage was minor, one window was broken and smoke entered the library.  Now is a good time to talk about cameras for outside of the library.  The opening has been pushed up to May 1st due to the fire.   All the remaining work should be done by April 16th, then the staff will bring materials back to the library over the 17th, 18th, 19th.  The last day at the Akeley building is the 16th. Volunteers will help with the shelving.  Cindy has spent $14,662 on replacement items to date and continues to buy new material.  There were 1003 visitors at the Akeley Library (35-50 per day).

Julie Pickett Retirement: Julie’s last day is June 1st, after 30 years as a librarian.  We will close the library early on May 31st to hold an open-house celebration in her honor.  The Friends’ are interested in doing something to recognize her service, as well.

Old Business: No old business.

New Business:  April is the end of the Board term.  We say goodbye to D. Bryan and B. Fox.  Thank you for being a part of this Board of Trustees.  The Select Board will elect new board members in May and those individuals will come to the June meeting.

Next Meeting: May 3rd

Adjournment:  8:53am

Respectfully Submitted,

Kim Kaufman
