Minutes Of Board Meeting September 7, 2017

In attendance: Chair Ronna Ziegel, Kelley Spear, Louise Thompson, Donna Penndorf, Treasurer Carol Stevens, Bonnie Knight, Margot Hall, Sally Nolan, Peg Lackey, and Julie Pickett

Ronna Ziegel opened the meeting at 3:30 and the minutes of June 1 were unanimously accepted.

Discussion of how many active board members currently have and how many to have. Names were brought up. Bonnie was going to contact some that she thought would make good contributions to Board. Need to find replacements for Vice Chair Lisa Grady and Secretary Nancy Stead.

Kelley Spear is working with Lisa Grady on the “In Your Backyard” series as Lisa has moved away. Peter Miller is the September 21 speaker and Bill Schubart is the November 16 speaker. Julie will find a children’s author for Christmas events in December. Donna is arranging refreshments for events.

Membership of over $2000 for 109 members YTD. Membership drive generated $6320 YTD.

Carol Stevens presented the figures for YTD 2017-2018. Of note was $5,150 Memorial Contribution for Dave Tilgner. Dave’s family suggested contributions be made in Dave’s memory to FSFL. Ronna will contact Dave’s wife Lori on how to use. The book sale generated income of $21,147.

Bonnie discussed the great volunteers we had at book sale, noting that the youth volunteers this year were very conscientious and reliable. At total of 55 people volunteered for book sale.

Julie presented Cindy’s Director Report. Summer activities funded by FSFL included Storytimes, summer reading prizes, summer intern, Stowe Reporter digitization and circulation. Requests for elevator upgrade, bookshelves in adult non-fiction section and juvenile non-fiction, juvenile bookcase top display and after school shelter dog blanket program. All but the elevator repairs were approved.

The next board meetings will be January 4, March 1, May 3 (annual meeting) and June 7.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:30.
