Friends of Stowe Free Library are excited to announce this season's authors and dates! 

The "In Our Own Backyard" series is back for another season!  Each event will be held in the Stowe Free Library Community Room.  Each event will be on a Thursday at 7pm unless otherwise noted.  More information to follow as each date approaches. 

Friday, December 2, 2016 - 4:30 pm 

Willem Lange will be reading from his children’s holiday book "Favor Johnson". A heartwarming story about Favor Johnson, his dog Hercules, Doctor Jennings, and the mysterious house-to-house delivery of homemade fruit cakes on Christmas Eve. To be followed by the Helen Day/Town Tree Lighting.

An American music producer who lives in Vermont Jim Rooney will be speaking about his autobiography, In It for the Long Run: A Musical Odyssey.  Jim received a lifetime achievement award from the Americana Music Association in 2009 and is one of the founding members of the Newport Folk Festival and Club 47.

Reidun Nuquist will be speaking about her book "Green Mountain Girls: Women of the Long Trail" which follows the footsteps of the first women to hike the long-distance path. Reidun is a longtime member of the Green Mountain Club who writes frequently on the history of the Long Trail. She has been a librarian at the Vermont Historical Society and the University of Vermont’s Bailey/Howe Library.

Well known meteorologist, Roger Hill will be speaking about “1816, The Year Without A Summer”.  Roger has been a meteorologist in Vermont since 2000 and can be heard on Radio Vermont (WDEV, WLVB, WCVT, and 101 The One).
